Memphis, Tenn. – Jason Yaun, MD, FAAP, Division Chief of Outpatient Pediatrics at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital and the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, has been elected vice president of the Tennessee Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (TNAAP). He will serve a two-year term.
The organization, which is based in Nashville, is comprised of physicians and specializes in pediatric advocacy for the state of Tennessee. TNAAP members work with legislators and policy makers to ensure the physical, mental, and social welfare of children, their families, and the pediatricians who care for them.
Dr. Yaun has been a member of the TNAAP since 2009. Before being elected vice president, he previously served as a West Tennessee Fellow At-Large (2013-2017) and secretary/treasurer (2018-2019). He has also been the Legislative Committee cochair since 2016.
“It is a privilege and honor to represent my colleagues in advocating for the health and well-being of all children throughout Tennessee,” Dr. Yaun said. “Through our legislative advocacy efforts, we have the ability to shape policies, funding, and other drivers of health that affect children. We have the ability to stand and be a voice for the most vulnerable people of our population who do not have a voice and who do not have a vote. It’s also a great way to get to know many of the wonderful pediatricians in our state.”
After his term as vice president, Dr. Yaun will serve a two-year term as president beginning in 2022.
